The first training session of the OBDC Construction Academy was held on May 24 at the Columbus Library.  Contractors, who are members of the OBDC Planroom, received valuable instruction on estimating a construction project from industry expert James Jones, owner of HCI Inspectors.  The class got one-on-one attention and tips on how to get the “right number” to bid on a project.

All work shall be substantially complete within 600 calendar days of the Notice to Proceed, with final completion to occur within 620 calendar days.  The City anticipates issuing a Notice to proceed on or about October 23, 2023.

Project Description:

The Work, in general, consists of the replacement of the sodium hypochlorite and sodium bisulfite PVC pipe systems with HDPE piping at the Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant and other such work as may be necessary to complete the contract, in accordance with the drawings, technical specifications, special provisions, and City of Columbus Construction and Material specifications set forth in this Invitation For Bid (IFB).

Elford Construction issues bid notice for City of Columbus Health Department Renovation Rebid

Bids are due on May 30th at 2:00 pm. Bids should be submitted to Proposals@elford.com This project includes renovating the 3rd and 4th floors of the existing City of Columbus Public Health Building as Administrative Office Space. HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical systems will be upgraded throughout the building as well. Approximate sf is 62,000. Limited work will be performed on the 5th and 6th floors including structural repairs, extension of new elevator up to the 5th floor and extension of utilities to the 5th and 6th floors for future renovations. Limited renovation work will be performed on the 1st and 2nd floors. The 1st and 2nd floor public and clinic areas must remain operational during construction.

There will be 2 phases of renovation:

  1. Phase 1 – Renovation of 3rd and 4th floors – 13 months
  2. Phase 2 – Renovation of 1st and 2nd floors – 3 months.

This project has an MBE/WBE participation goal of 20%.
