Ohio Business Development Center (OBDC)
The Ohio Business Development Center (OBDC) is dedicated to supporting small businesses, particularly those owned by minorities, women, and disadvantaged entrepreneurs. Our mission is to provide the resources, training, and mentorship necessary for businesses to grow, succeed, and compete in today’s marketplace. We offer a variety of programs designed to meet the unique needs of entrepreneurs in different industries, with a strong focus on construction, certification, and business development.
Our Programs
OBDC Construction Academy
The OBDC Construction Academy provides hands-on training and education for small construction businesses. Our goal is to help contractors, subcontractors, and trade professionals enhance their skills in estimating, project management, safety, compliance, and financial management. Through expert-led classes and real-world applications, we empower construction entrepreneurs to scale their businesses and secure larger contracts.
Women in the Construction Industry Lunch
The Women in the Construction Industry Lunch is a networking and empowerment event designed to connect women in construction with industry leaders, resources, and opportunities. This initiative fosters mentorship, collaboration, and professional development, ensuring that women in the field have the support and guidance needed to thrive in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
Ohio Certification Center
The Ohio Certification Center helps small and minority-owned businesses navigate the certification process for various state, local, and federal programs. Whether you’re seeking MBE, WBE, DBE, or other certifications, our team provides step-by-step guidance to ensure businesses meet requirements and successfully complete the application process. Certification can open doors to new contracting opportunities and funding resources.
BuildSmart Mentoring
BuildSmart Mentoring connects emerging entrepreneurs with seasoned business professionals for one-on-one mentoring and guidance. Through this program, participants gain insights into strategic growth, financial planning, business development, and industry-specific challenges. Our goal is to create a pipeline of successful, sustainable businesses by fostering mentorship and shared expertise.
OBDC is committed to building strong, sustainable businesses that contribute to economic growth and community development. Whether you are just starting or looking to expand, we have the tools and expertise to help you succeed.
